An AI assistant you already use can work in your Clientary account on your behalf. Once connected, it can find clients, draft and send invoices and estimates, write proposals and contracts, log time, add tasks, and answer questions like "how much have I invoiced this month?"
An assistant acts as you. It can see and do exactly what you can, and nothing more. Each person connects their own assistant.
The server address
Every assistant asks for the same thing, the address of Clientary's MCP server:
You can copy it from Settings → Connected Apps in Clientary. After you give it to your assistant, the assistant sends you to Clientary to sign in and approve the connection.
Claude
On the web or in the desktop app:
- Open Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
- Paste the server address and save.
- Choose Connect, sign in to Clientary when asked, and approve.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT connects to MCP servers in developer mode, which needs a paid plan.
- In Settings, turn on developer mode.
- From the Plugins page, add an MCP server and paste the server address.
- Sign in to Clientary when asked, and approve.
Claude Code
In a terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http clientary https://www.clientary.com/mcp
Then, inside Claude Code, run /mcp and choose Clientary to sign in.
Gemini CLI
In a terminal:
gemini mcp add --transport http clientary https://www.clientary.com/mcp
Then run /mcp auth clientary to sign in.
What to expect
- Creating an invoice, estimate, proposal, or contract makes a draft. Sending it to a client is a separate step, and the assistant asks you before sending anything or deleting anything.
- What an assistant asks for on your behalf is sent to that assistant's provider, under the provider's own terms and privacy policy.
- If your account has more than one Clientary login, connect the assistant while signed in to the account you want it to work in.
Disconnecting
Go to Settings → Connected Apps and choose Disconnect next to the assistant. It loses access to your account until you connect it again. You can also remove the connection from the assistant's own settings.
Account administrators can see every connected assistant across the team under Connected Apps in the main navigation, disconnect any of them, and turn off the ability to connect assistants for the whole account. While that is off, assistants that are already connected stop working.
If something goes wrong
- The assistant says it can't reach Clientary or asks you to reconnect. Connections end when you change your password, when an administrator disconnects them, or when the account's ability to connect assistants is turned off. Connect again from your assistant.
- The assistant reports that AI assistants are not allowed. An administrator has turned them off for the account. They can turn them back on under Connected Apps.
- You changed your subscription and the assistant stopped. Assistants work only while the account is in good standing. Once billing is updated, reconnect.
