PayPal IPN, Automatically Recognizing Payments, and Refunds

If you have Clientary configured to accept invoice payments through PayPal, Clientary will automatically integrate with PayPal's IPN system to receive payment notifications. This means when a client pays an invoice, the invoice will automatically recognize the payment and mark the invoice as paid if the payment matches the remaining balance.

If you are noticing that your payments are not being automatically recognized by Clientary when you receive PayPal payments, it is likely because you have a manually configured IPN setting that is routed to a different service provider. If you have a manual IPN route configured, Clientary will not receive payment notifications from PayPal and you will need to record payments manually to have them recognized in Clientary. You can clear the IPN setting if you wish to enable automatic payment recognition.

Refunds through PayPal are not automatically recognized in Clientary and for refunds, you will need to manually delete the payment in Clientary.
